Shahin Eghterafi Lic:(#1156496) is 33 years old and has spent most of his adult life building Los Angeles, literally.
He got into construction in his early twenties and never looked back. What started as hands-on field experience evolved into a full command of the build process across every project type the city demands: custom luxury homes from the ground up, hillside construction on some of LA’s most technically challenging lots, commercial buildouts for restaurants, offices, and retail, and the ADU construction work that has become one of the most important housing conversations in California.
Today, Shahin leads Cala Builders as its founder and general contractor, overseeing every service the company offers throughout Los Angeles County. On the residential side, that means new home construction, luxury builds, architectural design and 3D rendering, house framing, full home renovations, interior remodels, kitchen and bathroom remodeling, flooring, windows and doors, countertops and cabinets, and exterior remodeling. On the additions and ADU side, the work he’s most known for, he handles attached and detached ADU construction, garage conversions, room additions, second-story additions, and junior ADU builds, managing everything from city permits to move-in. On the outdoor side, Cala Builders constructs pools, patios, outdoor kitchens, custom spas, built-in BBQs, waterfalls, landscape construction, and concrete pavers. And on the commercial side, Shahin leads office construction, restaurant builds, retail buildouts, tenant improvements, and ADA compliance projects for businesses across Los Angeles.
He built Cala Builders because he kept seeing the same problem: homeowners and business owners in LA being handed to project managers who’d never held a tool, getting vague estimates and unclear timelines, and ending up with a finished product that didn’t match what they were sold. Shahin’s model is different. He knows every trade because he’s worked every trade. That means he can catch problems before they become cost overruns, coordinate subcontractors who actually know him, and give clients a straight answer about what their project will cost and when it will be done.
At 33, with a wife, a young kid, and over a decade of builds across Los Angeles behind him, Shahin brings something most contractors in this city can’t: the perspective of someone who builds homes for families because he is building one himself.
