Why Brentwood Homeowners Choose Cala Builders
Licensed and Verified
Cala Builders holds California General B Contractor License #1156496. Every project is fully permitted through the relevant Los Angeles city department.
In-House Project Management
Your project manager is a licensed contractor who oversees your Brentwood build from permit submission through final walkthrough, keeping timelines tight and communication clear.
Hillside and Canyon Experience
Much of Brentwood, including Sullivan Canyon and Mandeville Canyon, involves hillside grading, retaining walls, and fire-zone building requirements. We plan for these from day one rather than discovering them mid-project.
Engineering-Led Construction
Owner Mehdy Ebadat holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and brings 30 years of construction experience to every project. Fewer surprises at permitting, and a finished build that meets California code from the ground up.
One Team, One Accountability
Our in-house team covers every trade. One company, one contract, from your first consultation through your final inspection.
Meet the Cala Builders Team
Every project at Cala Builders is backed by a team of licensed specialists who bring decades of combined experience in construction, architecture, electrical, and project management to every build, including the hillside and canyon work common in Brentwood. From your first consultation to final walkthrough, you work directly with the people doing the work.
Luxury Home Construction in Brentwood
Brentwood’s gated estates and hillside lots call for a builder who can manage architectural complexity alongside strict permitting requirements. Cala Builders handles design, engineering, permitting, and construction for custom homes and major renovations throughout Brentwood, working around Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) review and any applicable hillside or fire-zone conditions specific to your lot.
Typical timelines: kitchen and bathroom remodels usually run 8 to 12 weeks, while full renovations and new custom builds typically take 4 to 12 months, depending on scope and site conditions.
ADU and Room Addition Construction in Brentwood
Many Brentwood homeowners are adding an accessory dwelling unit or expanding an existing home rather than moving. Cala Builders manages every phase of ADU and room addition construction, including site assessment, architectural design, permitting, and final inspection.
- Detached and attached ADUs
- Garage conversions to fully permitted living space
- Room additions, including second-story expansions
- Full home remodeling and interior renovation

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a permit for a home renovation in Brentwood?
Most renovations that touch electrical, plumbing, structural elements, or hillside grading require a permit through LADBS. Purely cosmetic updates are typically exempt. We handle permit submission as part of every project.
How long does a full home remodel take in Brentwood?
Kitchen and bathroom remodels typically take 8 to 12 weeks. Full home renovations and new custom builds usually take 4 to 12 months, depending on scope, hillside conditions, and permitting.
Do you build on hillside or canyon lots in Brentwood?
Yes. Areas like Sullivan Canyon and Mandeville Canyon involve grading, retaining walls, and fire-zone building requirements. Our in-house engineering experience accounts for these from the start of design.
What should I look for in a Brentwood general contractor?
Verify their California contractor license, ask for a milestone-based payment schedule rather than a large upfront deposit, and confirm they manage design, permitting, and construction as one team rather than passing you between subcontractors.
