Most general contractors subcontract their electrical work to third-party electricians the homeowner has never met and the GC may rarely coordinate with. At Cala Builders, Eliya is part of the core team. He attends project meetings, reviews architectural drawings before permit submission, and coordinates directly with project management so that electrical rough-in, panel work, and finish electrical are completed on the project’s schedule — not on a subcontractor’s availability.
For ADU projects, this matters enormously. ADU electrical systems must meet California Title 24 energy compliance standards, and the panel in the main home often requires an upgrade to support a new dwelling unit.
